Jonathan
is Arad's Chief Economist who has developed a range
of research and data analysis skills and expertise.
Jonathan brings to the Arad team a wealth of experience
in developing and updating regional and sub-regional
economic development strategies including most recently
Eastbourne & Hailsham, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Peterborough
and the Fens. Jonathan has also led on a number of
high profile studies involving the development of
composite indicators based on economic monitoring
and forecasting models. Recently Jonathan has led
on a number of high profile studies for clients that
include the London Development Agency, the South East
of England Development Agency, the European Commission
and the Government of Alberta.
Jonathan
has all the key skills required to undertake key research
and data analysis and interpretation on economic development
consultancy projects. He is a key contributor to the
UK Competitiveness Series, a series of reports aimed
at determining the past, present and future competitiveness
of the UK, its regions and its local areas developed
by Robert Huggins Associates. Jonathan is also an
economic commentator and has written review material
on work such as the National Economic Development
Strategy for Wales.
During
the last three years Jonathan has undertaken a range
of projects including two studies for the London Development
Agency examining the creative industries in London.
The first study mapped ten different creative industry
sub-sectors in London whilst the second study developed
a series of scenarios that charted the possible development
of the creative industries in London. Jonathan also
led research into the financing of seed-level funding
for London Higher Education spinouts. This study uncovered
the main constraints to the development of high-technology
businesses via the commercialisation of university-based
research.
Before
becoming an Economic Development Consultant Jonathan
worked at the HM Treasury as part of the Debt and Reserves
Management Team. His role included providing forecasting
reports, analysis of economic data and liaison with
external service providers as well as data analysis
at the UK Debt Management Office.
